Sanctioned by USA Hockey, Aspen Junior Hockey provides a world class youth hockey program for girls and boys in the Roaring Fork Valley. The on and off ice player development curriculum is aligned with the American Development Model, emphasizing age appropriate, long-term athletic development.
For the past decade, USA Hockey has been replicating the Finnish youth hockey system into the American Development Model, which emphasizes skills and age appropriate training. Aspen Junior Hockey is leading the nation in the latest techniques and best practices. Players in Aspen are encouraged to take ownership for their training, and are provided proper age appropriate skill development grounded in a long term approach to athletic development.
Prior to the season, all AJH coaches will receive training, and continuous support and resources throughout the season. Aspen Junior Hockey does it right, and our coaches benefit.
For coaches who travel with teams, AJH covers all travel expenses including milage, lodging, and food. Although AJH Coaches are considered volunteers, AJH budgets a small stipend for each coach to help cover personal expenses. Teams practice 2-4 days per week at various times in the evenings, and travel periodically for games to other beautiful destinations in Colorado on weekends.
