Aspen Defeats Littleton 2-1 for Tournament Title

The Aspen Bantam A team finished with an overall weekend record of 4-1-1, and wrapped up the Vail Sportsmanship tournament with a 2-1 championship victory over the Littleton Hawks.  Reece Cohan led the team and tournament in scoring with five points (3 goals-2 assists), including the game winning goal in the finals.  Dominic Lanese was second on the team in scoring with four points (3 goals-1 assist).  Jamison Fuentes and Stella Scott finished third with three points each. Goaltenders Emerson Jacobson and Gage Redman led the way for the Leafs. Each posted impressive numbers. Collectively Jacobson and Redman finished with a 1.34 goals against average and a 92.4 save percentage. In six games, the Leafs outscored their opponents by a combined score of 14-7. In the semi-final game, Aspen defeated Colorado Springs 3-1. Ethan Hunt, Lanese and Fuentes tallied goals, while Jacobson kept the shutout going until the team gave up a power-play goal with 15 seconds left the game. In the finals, Fuentes got the Leafs on the board early in the first period off an assist from Carter Hall. Cohan netted the final goal in the game off a feed from Logan Radtke midway through the second period. Redman held on for the rest of the contest stopping 18 total shots in the championship victory.
