AHS Head Coach Takes Active Player Development Role

Aspen Junior Hockey is proud to announce that Dru Lucchesi will serve as the new Squirt boys (10U) coordinator effective immediately. Coach Lucchesi also serves as the Aspen High School Varsity Head Coach. A native of Aspen and AJH, Lucchesi brings a wealth of knowledge, passion and experience. After youth hockey in Aspen, in 2006 he joined the AAA San Diego Gulls midget team. The following season Lucchesi played for the AAA Colorado Thunderbirds. In 2012, he graduated from CSU after five seasons of ACHA Division-1 college hockey with the Rams. Following college, Lucchesi returned home to Aspen, and has been giving back to the game ever since. Last season he served as the AHS assistant coach, and was promoted to Head Coach this past summer.

As the Squirt Coordinator Lucchesi will help design practice plans and support both Squirt teams and the coaching staff.  He will also take a lead role in power skating and skills, while encouraging a high-paced and environment.  AJH Director Shaun Hathaway summed it up best by stating: "We are extremely fortunate to have our high school coach taking in active role developing our young players.  His volunteer service to help our program improve speaks volumes about his commitment and passion for the game of hockey.  From top to bottom, our program has become much stronger with his presence."
