Aspen Hope Center Benefits from 482Total Playoff Saves

On Tuesday May 6, Aspen Junior Hockey delivered $1,750 in donations raised from its second annual "Sponsor a Playoff Goaltender for Charity" to the Aspen Hope Center. The outreach project was started in 2014 by Leafs goaltender Larkin Dolan. This season, six Aspen boys teams advanced to post-season playoff action.  Five moved on to the state final-four Federation Cup, which featured the top four teams left standing after double elimination league playoff tournaments conlcuded.

Collectively in 30 total games, Aspen Leafs goaltenders stopped 518 shots on net. Thanks to the generosity of members and friends of Aspen Junior Hockey who picked a goaltender and pledged a dollar amount for each save recorded, AJH delivered a very meaningful and special gift to an extremely worthy cause and organization-- The Aspen Hope Center.

Aspen Hope Center "Mental Health Moment":

May is one of the months of the year with the highest suicide rates across the country.  Many wonder why this is as spring is a time of renewal and color, beauty and new beginnings.  Some, during this time, tell us they set goals, spring clean and get outside more. Others say they plant flowers and open windows. Though this is how many feel, others feel lost. They don't know what "new" things they could bring into their lives, they want to move forward and "clean out" or "dust off" the old things that hold them down, yet don't know how or where to start, they struggle.

So, perhaps if you are inspired and renewed at this time of year, you can share that joy with others - take walks, invite someone for coffee, any type of time together. If you are one who struggles at this time, reach out to someone else. Words and explanations of heaviness are not even required. Just spend time in the presence of someone else and try to find a moment of joy to help keep you going. If your struggles mount and you cannot escape them, seek the guidance and safe space from a professional who can perhaps help lighten the load and provide a new path of Hope!
