AJH Coach and Volunteer of the Year Awarded at Coaches Party

Aspen Junior Hockey officially concluded the regular season Saturday night (April 18) at the Limelight Hotel with the annual Coaches Appreciation Party.  Dru Lucchesi was honored as the 2014-15 recipient of the Peter Whitmore "Coach of the Year" award. In his first season as Aspen High School Head Coach, Lucchesi guided his team to a 12-8 record and a long awaited return to the CHSAA state tournament. He also served as the Squirt Coordinator inspiring our 9 and 10 year old boys during practices. The award is in honor of Peter Whitmore, former coach and hockey ambassador who continues to serve as an inspiration to many AJH participants and future coaches.  Lucchesi is an Aspen native and Leafs alum.

Andy Welgos was awarded the "Volunteer of the Year" award for his continued service to AJH. Also an Aspen native and Leafs alum (and former Board member), Welgos volunteers his time managing highly important aspects of AJH business.  His continued work exemplifies the purpose of the award, which is an acknowledgment of impactful and behind the scenes service that typically goes unnoticed.
