14U Tier-1 Tournament Team Prepares for Andover, MA Trip

This summer Aspen Junior Hockey partnered with the Colorado Select, Rocky Mountain Lady Roughriders, and Colorado Springs to create the inaugural 14U "AAA" Team Colorado tournament team.  Team Colorado will compete in two (2) JWHL (Junior Women’s Hockey League) showcase tournaments in Andover, MA and Buffalo, NY. The JWHL is a top league in North America providing showcase events specifically for NCAA Division-1 and Division-3 colleges and universities. Along with collegiate exposure, the weekend provides Colorado players a tremendous chance to compete against other top players in their age group, which reflects the program's mission: to provide an opportunity for the top 14U players in Colorado to play against top players in different parts of the United States.

On August 22 in Colorado Springs, representatives from each of the four organizing associations evaluated forty 13-14 year old girls throughout the state.   A total of 15 skaters and 2 goaltenders were placed on the final roster; one-third of the skaters selected are Aspen Leafs. Congratulations to Juna Rettig, Elsa Cassidy, Stella Scott, Lara Trulove, and Kaelin Harris, who will all travel to Merrimack College for games this weekend. AK Fuentes and Sasha Brucker were both selected as alternates.  The same five players will part from their Leafs teammates in November for the second event at the Harbor Center in Buffalo (November 20-22).  The team is led by Colorado Select and Lady Roughrider coaches Karen Rickard and Jordan Slavin, and managed by Pat Kelleher of Colorado Springs.
