Aspen Leafs Win Vail Sportsmanship

Peewee A Team Goes 5-1 on the Weekend Championship Run

 

In the Vail Sportsmanship championship game at Dobson Arena Sunday afternoon, Tim Schlumberger and Connor Allen scored the lone two goals in the first period, and Aspen goaltender Zach Small and the Leafs defense held on for a 2-1 championship victory over the Green Mountain Falls Catamounts.  Aspen started the weekend with its only loss in 6 total games (3-2) against the Park City Miners.  Earlier Sunday, the Leafs found redemption with a 4-1 win over the Miners to set up the title game.  

Leafs forwards Wilder Jacober, Brooks Bond, and Will Cairncross led the team in scoring with seven points each.  Dane Whiston, Fisher Scott, Nick Pevny and Schlumberger each tallied four points, and Small finished with a solid 1.80 goals against average.

​Aspen defeated Littleton 5-3, Colorado Springs 4-1, and Arapahoe 3-2 in pool play action.
