NHL Legend is Featured Guest at Leafs Final RMJHL Home Game

The greatest left wing in NHL history is coming to Aspen as the featured guest during the Aspen Leafs 20U team's final home game against the Grand Junction Glacier Yetis Saturday night February 20 at the Aspen Ice Garden. Hull finished an illustrious 23 year NHL career (1,063 games played) with 1,170 total points (610 goals, 560 assists). He scored 50+ goals in one season nine times. He broke the 50 goal barrier for the first time in 1960-61 with the Chicago Blackhawks, and in 1966, he became the first player to score more than 50 goals in a season (54), surpassing the hallowed mark set by Maurice Richard and Bernie Geoffrion.

By his final NHL season, he had scored 50 goals or more five times, one time less than all players combined in NHL history up to that point in time. Hull won the Hart Memorial Trophy (league MVP) twice, the Art Ross Trophy (league scoring leader) three times, the Lady Bing Trophy (league sportsman) once, and the Stanley Cup once (in 1961). In 1972, he left the Chicago Blackhawks for the newly formed World Hockey Association, the only league to compete with the NHL (the two leagues merged in 1979). While in Winnipeg, Hull registered 648 points (307goals, 341 assists), and led the Jets to three championships (1976, 1978, and 1979). He completed his NHL career in a Hartford Whalers jersey during the 1979-80 season, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983.

Bobby Hull will be in attendance during Fan Appreciation Night when your Aspen Leafs host the Grand Junction Glacier Yetis. The February 20 RMJHL matchup is the last home Leafs game for the 2015-16 season. Proceeds from gate revenue and concessions are donated to Challenge Aspen, a non-profit organization that encourages and inspires those with physical and mental disabilities and those who are privileged enough to work with them. Challenge Aspen is helping to break through barriers, helping individuals gain self-esteem and confidence needed to lead fulfilling, productive lives.
