Leafs Celebrate President's Day on the Road

Seven Boys Teams in Colorado Springs, One Girls Team in D.C.

 

IN COLORADO SPRINGS:

Six Aspen Leafs teams are competing in the 39th annual President's Day Tournament hosted by the Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association. For decades, the tournament holds the reputation as one of the largest and most prestigious youth hockey events in North America. With the addition of a sled hockey division, this season the tournament features 100 teams converging for a large celebration of youth hockey. The Leafs Squirt C, Squirt B, Peewee B, Peewee A, Bantam B, and Bantam A teams all begin competition Friday, February 12 at six different arenas (8 total rinks) throughout Colorado Springs and surrounding satellite communities. The Leafs 20U Junior team is also in Colorado Springs Friday and Saturday night. With only 4 regular season games remaining, Aspen has a chance to lay claim to the inaugural RMJHL regular season championship when they face-off against second place Pikes Peak Miners. IN WASHINGTON D.C.

The Leafs 14U Girls AA team travels to the nation's capital for President's Day weekend to compete in the Junior Women's Hockey League's (JWHL) Challenge Cup. The JWHL is the premier league for elite girls hockey in the United States. On Saturday Aspen plays the  Boston Shamrocks and Washington DC Pride. On Sunday, the Leafs face-off against the Philadelphia Flyers. For live scoring, standings and statistics, click HERE.  

 

AT HOME IN ASPEN

On Sunday (2/14), the 19U Girls team hosts Summit 10:30 (Lewis Arena) and 2:15 (Ice Garden) in two important MSGHL games. Playoff implications are also on the line with the 14U Girls, who also host Summit at 12:45 and 3:15 Saturday (2/13) at the Ice Garden. The 12U Girls team closes out the MSGHL regular season with games against Summit at 11:30 and 2:00, both at the Ice Garden. Aspen High School plays their final home game of the season at 4:00 against the Monarch Coyotes (Lewis Arena) Saturday 2/20.
