Jon Eichel Named AJH Coach of the Year at the Coaches Appreciation Party

During a beautiful spring snowstorm Friday night April 15, Aspen Junior Hockey concluded the 2015-16 season with the annual Coaches Appreciation Party at the Limelight Hotel.  In an extremely festive event that featured live music from Aspen's own Jes Grew, coaches, parents and friends of AJH celebrated another extremely successful year of Leafs hockey.

Jon Eichel, a three year veteran coach for AJH, received the prestigious Pete Whitmore Award for AJH Coach of the Year.  Coach Eichel guided a young group of eager Peewee B players to a CDYHL league championship and State Final-Four appearance.  His on ice success was a by-product of his commitment to developing a group of individuals into a cohesive team.

Tamme Mellenthin was honored as the AJH Volunteer of the Year.  Her countless hours of work and dedication to the AJH Mite program was invaluable.  She was instrumental in providing timely and concise communication with all parents and coaches, and organized one of the best Mite Jamborees in Colorado.

Special thanks to Nancy Mayer, Publisher of Aspen Sojourner, for her unwavering support and amazing photographs capturing the essence of an amazing night!
