Learn to Play Program Runs Sundays October 1 - November 5

This summer, Aspen Junior Hockey partnered with the Colorado Avalanche to promote hockey in  the Roaring Fork Valley.  The Mile High Mites Program provides ALL boys and girls ages 5 to 9 years old a chance to learn hockey prior to the official start of the Leafs Mite season (Monday, November 6).

  • Each participant that registers receives a FULL SET of CCM gear sent by the Avalanche directly to the participants home.  This includes: skates, helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, pants, shin guards, 30" equipment bag, stick and a jersey.
  • On ice practices are Sunday evenings from October 1 through November 5 (six weeks total), led by AJH Executive Director Shaun Hathaway. The Colorado Avalanche plan to send an alumni player to Aspen during one or more of these sessions to help coach players.  The 45 minute practices run from 6:30 --  7:15 (pm) at Lewis Arena.
  • The program is open to players 5 to 9 years of age (birth years 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012).  Please Note: (4) years of age can be participate  but must have had their 4th birthday by May. 1, 2017 to be eligible.  ALL players are subject to approval by USA Hockey, CAHA & the Colorado Avalanche

The cost of the six week program (which includes the gear listed above) is $161.
