This week the Aspen Leafs 16U AA Girls will travel to Amherst, NY to compete in the 2019 USA Hockey National Championship Tournament (April 4-8).  The team returns to the big stage representing the Rocky Mountain District after claiming their second straight 16U Tier-2 District title on March 17.  This will be the third straight trip to Nationals for Aspen.  Two years ago, this same core group of players competed in the 14U AA division.   

The Leafs are one of 16 teams remaining in the nation for play in the biggest tournament of the season.  Placed in a four-team division, they will need to finish in the top two after a three-game pool-play round to advance to the quarterfinals.  On Thursday (April 4), Aspen begins competition against the Wisconsin Selects, who are currently ranked number 2  in the nation.  The following is their full pool play schedule

(all times listed below are mountain standard):

• Thursday, April 4 @ 8:00am – vs. Wisconsin Selects (#2 seed in the nation, #2 seed in the tournament)
• Friday, April 5 @ 2:40pm – vs. Vermont Shamrocks (#7 seed in the nation, #6 seed in the tournament)
• Saturday, April 6 @ 10:40am – vs. Steele City Selects (#15 seed in the nation, #10 seed in the tournament).  

Quarter Finals games are Sunday at either 8 or 8:15am.  Semi Finals are scheduled for 3:00 and 3:15pm the same day.  The Championship Game is on Monday at 7:30am.
