Mexico National Teams Return for FFO

The Mexico Ice Hockey Federation Back in Aspen for 26th Annual Tournament

Five teams from the Mexico Ice Hockey Federation will make a return trip to Aspen this October for the 26th Annual Fall Faceoff Tournament.  The includes the Mexico Women's National team, who will face off against the 19U AA Leafs in the first of three weekend events.   In the international (IIHF) women's team rankings, Mexico is currently 26th.  MIHF is also sending national teams for play in the Bantam AA, Bantam B, Peewee AA and Squirt A divisions.  

In its 26th season, the Fall Faceoff tournament has become the premier fall youth hockey event in the Western US.  For three straight weekends (October 11-13, October 18-20, and October 25-27), Aspen is full of hockey players, hockey families, and hockey fans.  Before August ended, the 26th Annual event sold out.  This year 88 teams are confirmed to compete in 10 divisions at both Lewis Arena and the Ice Garden.  Games run nonstop from Friday morning until the championships Sunday afternoon.  

As the Fall Faceoff has consistently hosted teams from numerous states, for the second year its going international with the addition of the Mexico teams.  AJH Executive Director Shaun Hathaway is excited about their return.  "We are honored to have them back.  It was a tremendous experience for all the players and our community last year, and I'm hopeful their annual presence lasts for decades to come."  For information about the 26th Annual Fall Faceoff, please visit: https://www.aspenjuniorhockey.com/fallfaceoff
