Aspen Junior Hockey, Executive Director Harlan Pratt

Greetings Aspen Hockey Community,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as your new executive director of the Aspen Junior Hockey Program. My family and I are thrilled to be part of the Aspen community and look forward to joining the Aspen Junior Hockey Program in July. We’re eager to immerse our family into the community and get to know everyone as quickly as possible.

First off, I would like to thank the past director for his seven-year contribution to the continued growth of both the sport of hockey and the character of our youth in this community. I look forward to building upon the foundation in place, while bringing a new perspective to athlete development on and off the ice. I would also like to thank our Board of Directors for their incredible due diligence throughout the interview and selection process. It’s an honor to work with leaders of this caliber and I greatly appreciate their dedication to our Program’s success.

I’m very excited to begin working with our current coaches to reach new heights. Together, we will strive to maximize each athlete’s individual potential through current and new development models. I am a firm believer that our coaches, unified as a strong team, are a tremendous force to the trajectory our athletes’ ever-growing athleticism.

As a staff, we will continue to advance our knowledge base in order to achieve organizational goals and remain committed to uphold the past values that cultivate character and discipline within our program. We seek to continue this standard of excellence among our athletes, while also focusing on making hockey enjoyable and accessible to everyone. We will advance as individuals and flourish as teammates.

Being raised in Northern Alberta, Canada, hockey has always been a huge part of my life. The Pittsburgh Penguins drafted me in 1997, which began a rewarding 15-year career as a professional hockey player. I’ve attended seven NHL training camps, which provided me invaluable knowledge of the key requirements necessary to achieve success at the highest level. Following my retirement from professional hockey in 2013, I’ve spent the past seven years investing my passion for the sport in coaching and skill development for athletes of all ages, from individual NHL player readiness to Elite Youth Team Head Coaching. I’m delighted to leverage this experience to grow and develop both current and new Leaf players.

This is a very exciting time, as we prepare for our athletes to return to the ice. I’m eager to arrive in July with my wife, Jules and our children, 11-year-old son, Hudson and 9-year-old daughter, Quinn. While not at the rink, my family enjoys playing with our three dogs, traveling and being outdoors biking, swimming, and hiking. We cannot wait to meet all of you and have a phenomenal 2020-2021 Aspen Junior Hockey Season!

Sincerely,
Harlan Pratt
