Leafs Collect Four State Titles and One District Championship

The Aspen Leafs collected two more State championships over the weekend in Denver, and a Rocky Mountain District Championship in Dallas.  The 10U Squirt A team defeated Littleton in overtime 2-1 to claim the Leafs first Squirt A State Championship title in AJH history.  Jack Freitas netted the game winner to send the players, coaches and parents into frenzied celebration that will be remembered for years to come.  Later in the day at the Pepsi Center, Brooks Bond registered a hat trick in the 14U Bantam A State Championship game against Littleton.  Leafs goaltender Zach Small was a standout player in net as the team held on late to claim a 4-3 victory over Littleton.  In Dallas, the Aspen 16UAA Girls team squared off against the Dallas Stars Elite in a best of three championship series.  Casey Chesner scored both goals for Aspen in game one, including a thrilling goal in triple overtime to claim the win.  Aspen outshot the Stars by an impressive 75-36 margin.  In game two goal the Leafs punched their ticket to Nationals by completing the sweep 3-2 in double overtime.  Aspen will complete the season April 5-9 in Marlborough, MA by representing the Rocky Mountain District at the USA Hockey National Championship tournament.

The success this past weekend adds to the other banners collected by the Leafs.  The 19U A Girls team won a thrilling shootout victory in late February to claim the State Championship, and a week later the the 16U AA Girls hosted the State Championship banner after sweeping the Rocky Mountain Lady Roughriders in a best of three series.
