Five Teams from Mexico to Compete in October's 25th Annual Fall Faceoff

Aspen Junior Hockey is thrilled to announce that five teams selected by the Mexico Ice Hockey Federation will travel to Aspen in October for the 25th Aniversary of the Fall Faceoff.  Mexico's National Women's team will headline the tournament competing in the 19U AA Division.  The Aspen Leafs top 19U team will play Team Mexico on Friday night, October 12 at Lewis Arena .  Mexico Ice Hockey Federation will also send national teams at the Midget, Bantam, Peewee and Squirt divisions to the three weekend event.  Each team will consist of the top players throughout Mexico, selected during a national team tryout in August at all levels.

"This is  a tremendous opportunity to share our cultures and celebrate hockey together.  I expect it to be a learning experience and an amazing chance to help grow the game throughout North America." stated Executive Director Shaun Hathaway.  Currently Mexico has 22 indoor rinks with 2,577 registered players (885 male players, and 292 female).   Their Men's World International Ice Hockey Federation ranking is 36, their Women's team is 29th in the world.

Each national team will play an Aspen Leafs team during the three weekend long event, featuring over 85 teams from numerous states, and countries.  This season Aspen Junior Hockey celebrates the Fall Faceoff's 25 anniversary, and hosting five National teams from Mexico couldn't start a better script for the tournament.
