All three Aspen Girls teams advanced to the MSGHL/State tournament February 22-24 at the Edge Ice Arena in Littleton. The top two teams in pool play advance to the division championship game Sunday afternoon. Aspen enters the weekend as favorites to advance to the final round in all three divisions.
- The 19U team enters as the top seed and defending champions. They completed their goal of an undefeated regular season, finishing league play 17-0-1. The only blemish on Aspen's record was a 2-2 tie at home back on December 1 against the Lady Roughriders, who finished with a 16-1-1 record gaining the #2 seed with ease. A match up between these two teams will only come in final round action, as the two are not scheduled to face-off in pool play competition.
- The 15U team is the #2 seed, finishing with a 13-4-3 regular season league record. They finished behind a strong New Mexico team, who claimed undefeated honors with a 19-0-1 record. The Mustangs shut down the Leafs (6-0 and 4-0) in a pair of games dating back to early November in Aspen. As the #2 seed, Aspen avoids New Mexico in pool play action, but has their sites set on a rematch in the championship round.
- The 12U team begins play as the #3 seed with an 8-4 regular season league record. Aspen finished second in the MSGHL West Division behind Salt Lake City, who completed the season with a 10-2 record. The Leafs spoiled their perfect record with a pair of road wins last Saturday in Vernal, UT (3-0 and 5-3) to conclude the regular season. The two teams are set to collide in pool play action Saturday, February 23 at 5:30 (Edge Ice West).
