Happy April, Aspen Junior Hockey Families,
Has spring officially arrived? While the snow might be melting outside, things are just heating up inside the rink as we transition into our spring and summer programming. But on a side note, please see the following update below.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: A New Surface for Lewis Ice Arena? In a bold move to reduce cooling costs and embrace the changing seasons, the Board of Directors has approved a plan to replace the ice at Lewis Ice Arena with high-density, refrigerated white sand. Starting next week, all practices will transition to the "Beach Hockey" format. Skates will be replaced by specialized "sand-fins," and the puck will be swapped for a weighted coconut. We believe this will significantly improve our players' balance and core strength while bringing a tropical vibe to Aspen.
...April Fools! Rest assured, the ice isn’t going anywhere. We’ll leave the sand for the beach and keep the blades on the ice where they belong.

The Colorado Avalanche proudly offers female youth players ages 9–12 a unique weekend camp experience combining focused on-ice training, off-ice skill development, and interactive Q&A sessions — all designed to help young athletes elevate their game.
This camp will feature Colorado Avalanche special guests alongside local girls' hockey coaches.
